The Opportunity

The Centre for Drug Candidate Optimisation (CDCO) is an internationally recognised collaborative research centre based within the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS). It provides absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) lead candidate optimisation advice and support to drug discovery programs. Drug candidate optimisation fills a crucial gap between discovery and development by integrating medicinal chemistry and biology with the pharmaceutical sciences to provide a rational means of identifying drug candidates suitable for progression into preclinical and clinical development.

The CDCO currently comprises 20 staff and collaborates with numerous drug discovery groups. As the successful applicant, you will join a dedicated and vibrant team of chemical and biopharmaceutical scientists to enhance the quality and develop potential of new drug discovery candidates. For more information, visit www.cdco.monash.org

Applications are sought for a Research Assistant in the Chemistry-Analytical Section of the CDCO, to work within a flexible team of scientists in a state-of-the-art LC/MS facility. The successful applicant will be responsible for the analysis of new drug candidates and their metabolites from various biological matrices. This role will include performing in vitro assays using standard protocols, biological sample preparation for analysis, and the development and implementation of quantitative analytical methods using LC/MS detection.

Applicants should hold a degree with honours or equivalent experience in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or a related discipline. Experience in quantitative analysis of biological samples and experience with HPLC are essential. Experience with LC/MS is highly desirable.

If you have the background to undertake this role, we welcome your application.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to "How to apply for Monash Jobs"
