About the role

This role presents a fantastic opportunity for an early career researcher to join the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences and contribute to the ACEMS research project. 

This is an 18 month, full-time position for commencement in early 2017. This position provides a springboard for a highly motivated researcher to establish an international profile in an area of pure mathematics related to that of Professor Dooley. You will have a competitive track record in mathematical research and will be expected to actively contribute to the School’s research program, publish papers in high-impact journals and present results at major conferences.

As the successful candidate you will have:

  • doctoral qualifications in Mathematics
  • language technologies: familiarity with LateX computing environment.
  • academic writing; knowledge of the characteristics of reflective, academic writing.
  • a knowledge of modern mathematical analysis
  • the ability to undertake original research, as evidenced by timely and high quality research outputs and capacity for building research collaborations.
  • a willingness to contribute to University`s research culture and development through engaging in cross- centre and cross- faculty dialogue
  • a track record of research in non-commutative harmonic analysis and/or ergodic theory (desirable)

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $74,010 to $90,139 pa (Level A)

This role attracts 17%superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

This appointment will be on a fixed term, full-time basis for 18 months.
