The Institute for Learning Sciences and Teacher Education (ILSTE) is a national research institute hosting a team of internationally-renowned researchers and international scholars undertaking nationally-funded research studies with a range of industry-funded partners. Our research draws on both qualitative and quantitative methodologies and includes large-scale, longitudinal studies and meta-analyses.

The Research Assistant will work in a research team environment within ILTSE. The purpose of the position is to provide research project support within the Institute to ensure that the ILSTE meets its strategic objectives and maintains its position in providing quality research and higher education. The position involves a variety of research tasks in national projects conducted within the Institute’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program.

You will undertake a range of research project tasks including literature reviews, draft publications, reports, preparation of information to inform research grant publications or tenders, data collection and analysis. You will also provide general administrative support related to the research activities of the Institute.

You will need to have:

  • a relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant research experience

  • demonstrated experience in undertaking research/inquiry tasks (e.g. data collection/entry/collation and literature searches
  • effective planning and time management skills demonstrating the ability to work to deadlines, achieve required outcomes and prioritise tasks

  • excellent oral and written communication skills, including high level editing skills, ability to present information at a professional level and attention to detail

  • well-developed interpersonal skills and capacity to work as a member of a team.

  • evidence of ability to show commitment with integrity to the Catholic Identity, Mission and ethos of the University

Total remuneration valued to $81,752 - $88,588 pa, including salary component $69,081 - $74,858 pa (Higher Education Worker Level 5), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
