About the opportunity
The John Walsh Centre for Rehabilitation Research is looking for a dynamic Research Assistant to provide technical and operational support to Professor Ian Cameron, Chief Investigator and Head, John Walsh Centre.
The Research Assistant will be responsible for preparing relevant materials in collaboration with team members and facilitating efficient operation of the research team. The incumbent will also be expected to coordinate the activities associated with the research project and work towards ensuring that data collection and analysis are prepared for and run smoothly.

- Tertiary qualifications in Health or Social Science discipline or related field. May have (or be working towards) postgraduate qualifications
- extensive experience developing and working on research projects, carrying out literary searches and preparing literary reviews for further analysis
- advanced data analysis skills, using statistical tools and reporting
- current Driver’s licence and willingness to travel to conduct interviews
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills as well as ability to conduct interviews with older and vulnerable people from diverse backgrounds. The candidate will also be able to work independently and as part of a team and maintain confidential data records.
This project aims to develop and validate a new preference based quality of life instrument for application in economic evaluation in aged care. The new instrument will be uniquely developed from its inception with older people receiving aged care services and will focus upon incorporating their values into the measurement and evaluation of quality of life for economic evaluation. The intended outcome of the project is to provide a robust mechanism to incorporate a consumer focused, quality of life outcomes perspective to decision-making processes in aged care. The new instrument will have immediate applicability in quality assessment and economic evaluation improving the quality of life and wellbeing of older Australians.
