About the opportunity

We have two fixed term opportunities available for experienced Site Services Advisors; the first role, up to Dec 2019 is an opportunity to service the Sydney College of the Arts based at Rozelle, and the second role, up to March 2019 is an opportunity to service the Health Sciences, based at Lidcombe

These roles provide and promote high quality client focused service by providing in-person and online advisory, outreach and support activities that provide access to the information resources and services required to support the learning, teaching and research of the University’s staff and students as well as the community users.

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • high quality customer service skills and a client focused approach
  • good computer skills in a range of MS Office, database and web based software
  • well-developed written communication skills with the ability to produce procedures and other professional communications
  • a demonstrated ability for effective problem solving, attention to detail and organisational skills
  • demonstrated creativity in the application of technology for assigned tasks
  • an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education. 

Flexibility is essential, with staff working across the various library locations and delivering service in the evening and on weekends. The University Library reserves the right to transfer or rotate the location of this position to any of its Library sites based on workloads, professional development or business needs.

The University of Sydney Library offers a wide range of high quality information services to University students, staff and the community to support their learning, teaching, research and scholarship endeavours. The Library provides services under four major divisions:

  • Central Services
  • Site Services
  • Academic Services
  • Access Services

The Site Services division manages non-digital resources, membership, loan and general enquiries and provides management of the Library’s physical environment and study spaces across multiple sites.  This division is responsible for the delivery of sustainable and innovative site-based services including a transition from traditional library facilities to high quality and technology-enabled services which will maximise resources and support client requirements.
