About the opportunity 

An opportunity has become available for a Protein Production Facility Staff Scientist, within the Core Research Facility/ Drug Discovery Initiative. In the role, the incumbent will be required to undertake highly specialised scientific research and development including collating experimental data and recording experimental procedures. Critical to the role will be the ability to provide sound, expert advice, guidance and technical support to researchers and students in the Drug Discovery Initiative, working closely with researchers and key academics and providing collaborative research input for projects being undertaken by the Initiative.

We are looking for a Protein Production Facility Staff Scientist who possesses demonstrated expertise in:

  • Managing research outputs and research facilities
  • Able to provide expert advice and assistance to researchers, students and external clients
  • Ability to manage multiple research projects , including establishing the project organisation structures and embedding project governance and controls, project plans, tracking systems and reporting guidelines.
  • Managing both internal and external stakeholder relationships

A Core Research Facility is a centralised, shared capability spanning the priorities of multiple faculties, providing access to high-end research infrastructure and offering a range of research services enabling researchers to undertake specialised research work. Facilities serve as focal points of research activity, building multi-disciplinary user communities that apply the Facility platforms and capabilities, and/or advance technique development and methodological innovation so as to enable research at the frontiers within and between academic disciplines.

Drug Discovery Initiative

The Drug Discovery Initiative (DDI) will bring together the spectrum of researchers and clinicians interested in ‘drug discovery’broadly conceived. As part of the University commitment to drive research excellence and engagement across its disciplinary and multidisciplinary domains, the DDI will connect academics with expertise and interest at particular stages of the recognised drug discovery pipeline ranging from basic disease research, through to generating and optimising leads, and translation into clinical use .The DDI will drive new linkages across existing areas of capability in drug discovery research, and enable greater scale and impact of current resources.
