South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) provides research and development services to the state government, commercial clients and research partners to help make South Australia’s primary industries and regions internationally competitive and ecologically sustainable. SARDI’s programs are designed to increase the productivity, sustainability and adaptability of the state’s agriculture, food and wine, fisheries and aquaculture and bioscience enterprises, create opportunities for market growth, address barriers to growth and provide applied solutions.

The Senior Research Agronomist (Crop Ecophysiology) is a new position within the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI). The position is part of a network of research agronomists supported by a SARDI/Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) bilateral program. The Senior Research Agronomist (Crop Ecophysiology) will work closely with the whole of the SARDI/GRDC bilateral research agronomy team and the Principal Scientist, Crop Ecophysiology to undertake original scientific research, development and extension that benefits the southern grains industry sector.

Salary: $77,752 - $86,620.

Essential Qualifications: The applicant must have a Ph D in Agriculture or equivalent.

Special Conditions: This is a contract / term vacancy up to 60 months. Interstate and intrastate travel and some out of hours work, weekend and public holidays travel will be required. A current Class C drivers licence is essential. Use of common agriculture chemicals is required and a Chemcert chemical handler’s certificate or a willingness to obtain one is essential. Involves field work and exposure to dust and pollen.
