The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2011-12 has been published, with 27 universities from Australia and New Zealand being listed in the top 400.

 

The University of Melbourne took first place in the country with an overall score of 71.9, taking number 37 in the overall ranking, with a narrow lead of over the Australian National University (ANU), which took out number 38 with an overall score of 71.2.

 

The University of Sydney was ranked 58 with an overall score of 62.4, followed by the University of Queensland (ranked 74), Monash University (117), the University of Auckland (173), the University of New South Wales (shared 173) and the University of Western Australia (189).
