The Tasmanian Government has announced the winners of the 2012 International Education Awards, with State Minister for Education, Nick McKim, presenting the awards.

 

"International students add significant economic benefits to Tasmania and enrich our community by adding to our cultural diversity," Mr McKim said.

 

 

"The winners are from countries including Afghanistan, China, the Philippines, South Korea and Pakistan as well as our wonderful local community members.

 

"I'm very pleased to announce the winners of the 2012 awards and especially the student video competition winners, which we will use on our website and other marketing channels to promote our programs to the world."

 

The winners are:

Paul Han (South Korea, Launceston College)

Arthur Wong (China, University of Tasmania)

 

Staff member/teacher of the year

Debbie Halliday (Hobart College)

Bernadette Henry (Tasmanian Polytechnic)

 

Homestay host family of the year

Colin and Anna Riley (Blackmans Bay)

 

Community member (services to international students) of the year

Sardar Waqas Ahmed Khan Durrani (Pakistan, University of Tasmania)

 

International student video of the year

Ahmad Waris (Afghanistan, Scotch Oakburn College)

Romnick Glodoviza (Philippines, Tasmanian Polytechnic)
