US-based international education provider Laureate has announced a new university to be constructed in Adelaide.

The university, to be called Torrens University Australia, will offer two-year courses in management, education, creative arts and commerce. It is planned that around half of the students will be international. Courses are expected to cost between $65,000 and $80,000 per student.

Research commissioned by the Laureate group values the new university at around $1.8 billion in direct and indirect economic activity for South Australia this decade. The research also estimates that up to 550 jobs could be created.
