The Australian Catholic University (ACU) has announced the appointment of Professor Wayne McKenna as its new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).

Professor McKenna will join the ACU from the University of Western Sydney, where he was Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research). Professor McKenna has also held positions with the University of Newcastle, University of Geneva in Switzerland and the University of Toulouse in France.

There has been strong growth in the research profile of ACU and I look forward to working with staff to build on this success - especially in the areas which the University has, or seeks to achieve, research excellence,” he said.

Professor McKenna will take up his appointment at ACU in late January 2013.

ACU Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Craven welcomed Professor McKenna’s appointment, saying he looked forward to working with him.

Professor McKenna will replace Professor Thomas Martin, who retires at the end of 2012.
