We now have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced Research Officer to join our Cairns Clinical School. This fulltime position is fixed term until December 2024 and is based at our Cairns Bada-jali campus and Rural Clinical School at Cairns Hospital.

Remuneration is Academic Level A: $73,551 - $98,283 with up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE 

The Research Officer will provide research related administrative and project management support for projects led by staff and students in the Cairns Clinical School of the College of Medicine and Dentistry (CMD).

Working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, you will contribute to the development of research activities and capacity whilst providing advice and assistance to support new and established research programs   in areas including sourcing of research funds, design of research/evaluation projects, ethical requirements, appropriate research methods and interpretation and publication of research findings.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE 

This varied and engaging role will see you playing a strong part in supporting a number of functions within our Cairns Rural Clinical School and we will look for the below skillsets in our Selection Process:

  • A Degree relevant to the nature and requirements of the role.
  • Subsequent Health and Medical Research experience.
  • Proven experience, or the ability to gain proficiency, in the administration of Health and Medical research in a clinical setting.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with a range of university and health service stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated effective organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritise to meet competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

In addition to this, we will find the below desirable:

  • A relevant postgraduate research degree in health and medical research.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in biostatistics, epidemiology and research study design.
  • Experience in preparing research funding submissions.

Special Conditions

  • It is a requirement of this position to occasionally work outside of the ordinary span of hours.
  • It is a requirement of this position to hold a current ‘C’ class Queensland Drivers Licence.
