About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a central team working with researchers undertaking ground-breaking large scale programs of research.
As the Research Partnerships Manager, you will work across a broad range of research with researchers from across the university. Working as part of a close-knit team, you will support industry engagement and business development led by the Research Partnerships Office and provide contracting and other support to the Collaborative Research Platforms.
Reporting to the Director, Research Commercial Management, you will also work with Research Partnerships Managers embedded in Faculties and Institutes and internal colleagues from the Research Grants Unit.
Some key responsibilities include:
Primary point of contact for high-level management of research contracts and agreements from initial negotiation to execution
Triage of research contracts and agreements to assess requirements for legal and administrative review, in accordance with specified criteria and guidelines
Provide guidance to researchers on research budget preparation, consistent with the University's Recovery of Indirect Costs from Research Funding and Consultancies policy
Provide signing briefs to Director Research Commercial Management regarding negotiations undertaken with external partners and researchers of contractual terms and commercial management of research contracts
Ensure researcher completion of schedules to agreement, and researchers' understanding of contractual milestones and other researcher obligations
This is a full-time, continuing position at the St Lucia campus.
At HEW level 8, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $105,338.31 - $118,280.70, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $123,245.82 - $138,388.42 annually.
About You
Postgraduate qualifications and extensive contract management experience (preferably in the tertiary education or research sectors); or an undergraduate degree, extensive contract management experience, proven management expertise and other relevant education/training.
Demonstrated skills in research contract administration and management at a senior level, preferably within a large, complex institution
Extensive knowledge of the higher education research funding environment
A high level of communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines
Demonstrated understanding of intellectual property management and knowledge transfer
Demonstrated experience to successfully engage with industry and other external research partners and undertake contract research negotiation
