An excellent opportunity is available for highly motivated individuals to join an outstanding team working on the Australian Stroke Clinical Registry (AuSCR) which is managed by The Florey (the Data Custodian).

The AuSCR is a national clinical quality registry which collects a minimum dataset of acute care information including the treatment and health outcomes for all hospitalised patients who have had a stroke or transient ischaemic attack. We are conducting innovative projects alongside the AuSCR to enhance the experience of people after stroke including how we collect survey data after they leave hospital and communicate their data back to hospital clinicians.

We are seeking appropriately qualified, Melbourne-based research assistants for the AuSCR to work within the Public Health and Health Services Research Group within The Florey. The AuSCR team is based at the Austin campus in Heidelberg, Victoria.

 The position involves working closely with and supporting AuSCR Senior Program/Data Managers and Hospital Coordinators, and other AuSCR office team members. Working relationships with the clinical teams from participating hospitals and epidemiologists from Monash University are also required.

 Other tasks include:

  • Collection of patient reported outcomes data and data entry;
  • Data management including data cleaning to ensure the integrity of data for analysis;
  • Help-desk support;
  • Administrative support for AuSCR and related research governance committees including taking minutes, organising meetings, record keeping and filing;
  • Support for hospital clinicians participating in the AuSCR or in related research projects as required;
  • Contribution to literature reviews or grant applications; and
  • Drafting reports or peer-reviewed journal publications.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in health sciences, public health or a related field;
  • Previous experience in data collection, data management and document filing/administrative processes related to health services research projects;
  • A solid understanding of human research ethics processes;
  • Proven ability to complete literature reviews and draft reports and journal publications, as well as experience in working with large datasets; and
  • Great attention to detail, excellent communication, organisational and computer skills.

A background in the field of stroke or cardiovascular disease is highly desirable.

An indicative salary is in the range of $61,198 - $76,016 commensurate with experience, (plus 14% superannuation and generous salary packaging options).

Please see the Position Description for full details of the role and selection criteria. Applications close 5pm Friday 23 July. For any enquiries, please email Professor Dominique Cadilhac (dominique.cadilhac@florey.edu.au) or our HR team at employment@florey.edu.au
