SA Cardiovascular Research Lead and Grants Manager

While our work has had a major impact on reducing the number of deaths, heart disease remains the leading cause of death in Australia, sadly taking the life of one Australian every 30 minutes.
How can you make a difference?
In this role, you'll strengthen cardiovascular research in South Australia by fostering collaboration, managing the SA Cardiovascular Research Network (CVRN), and administering state-based research grants. You'll oversee operations, manage key committees, build relationships with stakeholders, and coordinate events to raise the profile of cardiovascular research. Working closely with the SA CVRN Co-chairs and General Manager, you'll help achieve the Heart Foundation's strategic goals.
Responsibilities
Committee and Secretariat Support: Provide operational and strategic support to the SA CVRN Executive and Rising Stars Sub-Committees, including secretariat duties such as minute-taking, action items, and reporting.
Grant Management: Develop, promote, and administer Heart Foundation SA research grants for CVRN members through transparent processes.
Event Leadership: Lead the planning and execution of key events like the Annual Cardiovascular Showcase, Emerging Leaders Symposium, and capacity-building workshops for researchers.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with CVRN members, research funding bodies, institutions, local health networks, and government agencies.
Collaboration and Opportunity Development: Identify collaboration and funding opportunities across clinical, research, industry, and government sectors, and coordinate activities with other cardiovascular research networks.
Member Onboarding and Database Management: Coordinate the induction of new members and maintain the integrity of the SA CVRN member database.
Communications and Representation: Support digital and social media efforts to raise the profile of SA CVRN and its members and represent the Network at external meetings and forums.
Let's talk about you
To be successful in this role you will have appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or relevant work experience in health and medical research or health related field as well as:
- Strong understanding of the health and medical research landscape in SA and Australia, including funding schemes and networks.
- Expertise in grant management and administration.
- Experience in organizing research, capacity-building, and networking events.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and administrative skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience managing and working with committees.
- Strong collaboration and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks proactively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for various audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
