About the opportunity
The School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) at The University of Sydney is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Crop Physiology to be based at its IA Watson Research Centre in Narrabri NSW where a new International Centre for Crop and Digital Farming is currently under construction. The University of Sydney has world class strength in both basic and translational plant science including plant breeding and genetics, agronomy, molecular biology, developmental biology, plant pathology, plant physiology and digital agriculture; augmented by world class soil science. There are two world-class research groupings closely associated with the School: The Sydney Institute of Agriculture and the Plant Breeding Institute.
The successful applicant will have a track record of excellence in research publications and successful applications for research funding, demonstrating clear potential to become an international leader in their field. It is expected that the candidate's research background and future program will have an emphasis on plant physiology related to, but not confined to, broadacre grain crops. We are especially interested in candidates whose research would benefit from access to large-scale field trials and plant breeding facilities at the IA Watson Research Centre.
The successful applicant will have research interests that complement and/or enrich the existing strengths and expertise of the plant science community within the School. They should have a track-record of successful collaboration nationally and internationally and articulate a vision for potential collaboration within SOLES, across the University of Sydney and beyond. The University places emphasis on research excellence and research with impact; inter-disciplinary research is encouraged. SOLES have a program of undergraduate teaching related to plant science and agriculture from first year to Honours level and the successful applicant will be expected to contribute across this range of teaching in addition to being actively involved in postgraduate training.
