  • Opportunity to enhance the promotion of and engagement with the Library's Rare Books and Special Collections with a particular focus on study specific to the religious history of the Orthodox Christian faith
  • Located at Camperdown Campus
  • Part time (0.5 FTE) fixed term 12 months offering academic level A, a base salary of $78K-$105K p.a.pro rata, plus leave loading and generous employer's contribution to superannuation

 

About the opportunity

The Selby Old Fellowship at the University of Sydney Library enhances the promotion of and engagement with the Library's Rare Books and Special Collections as unique research and teaching resources, with a particular focus on study specific to the religious history of the Orthodox Christian faith. The Fellowship enables deeper understanding of the Library's collections in this area, and provides guidance on future acquisition priorities as well as priorities for conservation and digitisation activities.

About you

  • completion or near completion of a PhD in a relevant discipline area (written history of the Orthodox Christian faith and related areas of Christianity under the criteria set out in the trust conditions);
  • proven ability to conduct high quality research;
  • proven scholarly writing skills and experience in preparing publications for a variety of audiences, including non-scholarly pieces and scholarly articles in high-quality refereed journals, book chapters, and/or books;
  • well-developed oral and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and audiences, including presentations at seminars, conferences and other events;
  • demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a high-achieving and collegial research culture and
  • demonstrated experience working with special collections libraries and materials.
