Kidsafe Officer

 

Key Duties

Kidsafe officers are responsible for:

  • Fitting and checking the installation of car seats
  • Presenting regular talks to groups up to 25 people
  • Selling and hiring car seats and safety products
  • Cleaning car seats and covers
  • Providing information and advice to customers
  • Answering and returning phone calls, responding to emails, filing and other general office tasks

Personal Attributes

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Capability to work in a challenging, physically demanding and heavy duty role involving:
    • Manual labour
    • Heavy lifting and carrying
    • Leaning, crouching and climbing into vehicles of all shapes and sizes
  • Willingness and ability to present regular talks to groups up to 25 people
  • Confidence to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Competence to prioritise tasks
  • Flexibility and initiative to switch from one task to another quickly
  • Clear and accurate verbal and written communication skills
  • Capacity to learn new skills and information
  • Driver's licence and own vehicle

Qualifications

No previous experience needed, Kidsafe ACT will provide extensive training in child injury prevention and installation of car seats. 

Working Conditions

Kidsafe Officers spend a large amount of time outside in all types of weather and are required to fit car seats undercover in rain, hail, or shine.

Employment Details

Part-time position:

  • 4 days per week with varied hours between 8am and 5pm
  • 9am-12pm, 1 or 2 Saturdays per month
  • 6 month probationary period

Based at the Kidsafe Centre in Pearce. Some work at Mobile Services, parent groups and displays.

Kidsafe Officers work both independently and as part of a small team with limited resources. Child safety is a serious business but we also pride ourselves on having a sense of humour and making Kidsafe a friendly place to work.
