Faculty Research Coordinator

  • Salary Package: (HEW 7) $99,738 - $108,138, plus 17% employer's superannuation.
  • Appointment Type: Full-time, Ongoing
  • Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus at North Ryde

The Role

Reporting to the Faculty Research Manager, this position works closely with other members of the Faculty and with staff in central support units to provide timely and professional support to a range of projects related to the Faculty’s research.

This role is responsible for managing and supporting projects related to researcher development, including undertaking background research and environmental scans, and organising training workshops. It will provide support for broader Faculty projects and initiatives, produce high-quality content (e.g. internal publications, promotional materials, online collateral) and undertake data analysis. Having an understanding of current and emerging trends in researcher development, nationally and globally, will contribute to success in this role, as will strong project management skills. This role also offers opportunities to apply stakeholder engagement, training, and advisory skills in its day-to-day activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have completed (at least) an undergraduate degree in a field relevant to the Faculty and have relevant work experience that has enabled you to develop a high-level understanding of the research environment. Ideally, you will have worked in senior-level research administration roles or project roles. You are able to apply that contextual understanding to the management and delivery of projects that will assist our Faculty’s success in research. Your collaborative working style enables you to develop strong working relationships across functional areas and work effectively with a broad cross-section of other professional staff to deliver positive outcomes in a timely way. You enjoy working with academics and researchers at all seniority levels and across diverse disciplines to help them foster their research careers. You will enjoy the challenges and opportunities of working in a growing faculty to implement research strategy and initiatives and to support and build researcher capabilities, all within an evolving university and higher education environment.

    • An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
    • A high-level understanding of the research environment and demonstrated ability to apply that understanding to the management and delivery of research projects requiring the development of strong collaborative working relationships.
    • Demonstrated experience working in a senior-level research administrative or project role, developing and implementing strategies and providing ongoing expert advice, guidance and support to a faculty’s research community to assist in the development of their research activities.
    • High-level research, analytical and negotiation skills appropriate to problem solving and planning.
    • Experience in the interpretation and application of policies and procedures and the provision of advice and feedback to key stakeholders.
    • Strong verbal and written skills to communicate effectively with a range of audiences and to write high quality plans and reports.
    • Demonstrated experience in using administrative information systems (databases) and all programs in the Microsoft Office Suite.
