We currently have the opportunity for Academic English Coordinators to join the English Language team on a 3 year fixed term contract, reporting to the Director of Studies. This role will lead, coordinate and maintain UTS College Academic English course standards, supervise and mentor staff who teach Academic English, and actively contribute to quality student outcomes and positive student experiences.

About the role
This position is responsible for:

  • Upholding and maintaining standards set by UTS College for Academic English course delivery
  • Coordinating teaching staff to ensure Academic English terms and classes run smoothly
  • Maintaining teaching and learning materials for allocated Academic English level/s, including ensuring all course materials are kept current and ready for day 1 each term
  • Supporting students
  • Promoting and seeking student feedback
  • Participating in developing, delivering and supporting professional development activities
  • Ensuring new teachers are supported through onboarding and probation, including completing required training
  • Regularly conducting classroom observations with feedback provided and learning opportunities agreed
  • The timely resolution of issues with the potential to negatively impact learning outcomes, the student experience, or a positive and productive work environment for teachers

About you
To succeed in this role you must have:

Knowledge & experience

  • A relevant bachelors degree
  • A Master of Education in Applied Linguistics (or similar), including a recognised teaching qualification with a practical component, would be highly regarded
  • At least 7 years’ experience in teaching Academic English and extensive disciplinary knowledge and experience in teaching across IELTS levels
  • Knowledge of and experience in contemporary student-centred learning and teaching practice
  • Experience in a similar role supervising a team of teachers is preferred
  • Knowledge of Academic English curriculum models and knowledge/experience in supporting access and inclusion needs would also be well regarded
  • Highly developed skills in Canvas or similar learning management system
