We currently have the opportunity for a Learning Experience Lead to join the Education team in a creative and innovative role that ensures that the UTS College Model of Student-Centred Learning is embedded within all UTS College learning & teaching curricula and practices.

With the team of Learning Designers and in collaboration with UTS College course and program specialists, the Learning Experience Lead leads the development of all new curricula and the development of new initiatives in learning design and teaching practice – and also has operational ownership of the College’s Learning Management System (Canvas) as well as academic management of the Graduate Certificate in Student Centred Learning



About the role
This position is responsible for:

  • Learning experience & design
    • Providing high-level strategic advice and support to the Associate Dean on the development, implementation, support and evaluation of the educational design models and integrated curriculum frameworks
    • Leading and contributing to the development of strategic initiatives to improve assessment design, resulting in the establishment of high-quality frameworks and guidelines
    • Leading and contributing to the development and ongoing enhancements of innovative learning & teaching materials and practices
    • Utilising the student experience to evaluate the effectiveness of learning and teaching practices and making changes as needed
    • Managing and leading the Learning Experience Design team in the development and design of best practice learning & teaching
    • Providing direction and support to the Academic Coordinators in the development and continuous improvement of academic subjects following the implementation of the Integrated Model of Learning
    • Ownership of UTS College’s Learning Management System Canvas
  • Academic Staff Development
    • Academic leadership of the Graduate Certificate in Student Centred Learning
    • Evaluating the effectiveness of learning approaches by observing classes and providing support on improvements
    • Leading and sustaining the Academic Mentor model, mentoring new Academic staff in best practice and creating a community of practice


About you
To succeed in this role you must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in any discipline AND a master’s degree in Adult Education (essential)
  • A Research degree in Adult Learning (desirable)
  • At least 3 years’ experience in an equivalent role in the tertiary education sector
  • Extensive experience in learning design, working with academic curriculum development and innovation in teaching
  • Extensive experience with academic staff development and training
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of educational technologies and the design and implementation of blended learning
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, identify and implement innovative technologies and pedagogies
  • Strong team leadership skills with the ability to foster teamwork, mentor individuals and contribute positively to the team
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships at all levels
