The University's School of Engineering and Information Technology is an innovative faculty and makes significant contributions to many areas of research. Members of the project team are part of Murdoch University's Energy Research and Innovation (MUERI) group and are engaging in research in power system planning and stability, renewable energy based electrification and future electricity networks. The group has access to power system simulation resources (DigSilent Power Factory, MATLAB), monitored renewable energy systems, a sky camera setup for cloud monitoring and extensive renewable energy system component testing facilities.

The Role

The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will be actively involved in all research activities of the project including a review of Carnarvon's power system and its control, data analysis and statistical assessments, development of simulation models and control strategies, as well as testing, implementing and analysing PV generation and feed-in management control methodologies in Carnarvon. The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will collaborate with the project team consisting of a Research Assistant and several Engineering academic staff members under the supervision of the Project Leader (Senior Lecturer in Engineering).

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate must have:

  • A PhD in an area relevant to appointment (Electrical Engineering).
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in power system modelling and control, photovoltaic systems technology and solar resource assessment.
  • Demonstrated experience with handling and working with large data sets.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in high quality independent research, with an established record of scholarly publications.
