The Role

  • Fixed Term (until December 2020), Full Time
  • $96,178 to $135,637 pa (plus 9.5% superannuation)
  • Albury-Wodonga, Dubbo, Orange or Wagga Wagga

An exciting opportunity exists to undertake and engage in high quality, impactful research in the Three Rivers University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) and contribute to the development and implementation of future rural health strategic direction.

This position would ideally suit an experienced researcher with demonstrated experience in using qualitative and/ or quantitative methods, and has a focus on addressing critical rural health issues across key activity streams.

To be successful you will have:

  • A doctoral or masters qualification appropriate to the level being applied for or equivalent accreditation and standing
  • A record of research relevant to fields of public health, population health, social sciences, program evaluation, epidemiology, nursing or allied health
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in using qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Capacity to utilise and embrace current and emerging technologies to achieve work objectives.

The Three Rivers University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) is a newly established UDRH based at Charles Sturt University in the Riverina and Central West region of New South Wales. The Three Rivers UDRH provides an opportunity for academic staff committed to educating a future rural health workforce.

The key activities of the UDRH are:

  • Raising the aspiration and success of Indigenous and rural students from the outer regional and remote footprint of the UDRH;
  • Growing capacity for collaborative quality community-led rural clinical training, particularly in smaller regional communities and across expanded practice areas such as disability, aged care, mental health and primary care;
  • Evaluating the activities of the UDRH, researching rural health workforce capabilities and trialling approaches to service delivery to enhance the health of rural Australians; and
  • Fostering the development of future rural health capabilities by developing new multidisciplinary resources and training programs.
