The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour, and Development is an interdisciplinary research institute of the Western Sydney University. Research at MARCS is conducted in five interdisciplinary research programs: Biomedical Engineering & Neuroscience, Human-Machine Interaction, Multisensory Communication, Music Cognition & Action and Speech & Language. MARCS is located on the Bankstown, Campbelltown, Kingswood and Parramatta campuses.

The Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience (BENS) program is seeking an outstanding researcher to complement and strengthen investigations on the development of analogue and digital neuromorphic hardware and systems.

The successful applicant will be involved in the design of smart neuromorphic sensors, such as silicon cochleas, retinas, and tactile sensors. Furthermore, the design of hardware to perform neural processing with spiking and non-spiking neural networks will be a focus of this position. The position will complement existing research in neuromorphic algorithms and signal processing and strengthen our hardware design efforts.

The successful candidate will be a member of strong research team, and will be involved in supervision of Honours, Masters, and PhD students. We are seeking an energetic, forward thinking, dynamic, and innovative scholar to take up this postdoctoral research fellowship. The successful applicant is expected to be developing a strong international standing and research reputation, based on an excellent research background in this field.

This position is a full time, 4 year fixed term contract and is based at the Penrith campus.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level A $85,330 p.a. to $103,092 pa. (comprising salary $76,984 to $93,008 pa. plus super and leave loading)
