Director, Swinburne Research Institutes and Professor

  • Salary: $168,762 plus superannuation and 10% loading

The Research Institutes are future-facing initiatives aimed at positioning Swinburne and Victoria at the heart of tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges.

Multiple opportunities for Directors have arisen within the newly established Swinburne Research Institutes.   These positions will lead and facilitate interdisciplinary research within the University by actively engaging with external organisations (eg government, industry, NGOs) to identify issues and needs that the Institute can address through its thematic research programs.

It is expected through these activities that the Institute will deliver substantial research outcomes and impact through collaboration with industry, business, government and other external organisations, and support the university to achieve key objectives and targets in its 2020 Research and Innovation Strategy.

Skills and experience required
To be successful in this position you will need to have outstanding national and international reputation as a leader and an internationally recognised track record of research in a relevant field. Your ability to initiate, develop and foster collaborative research outcomes among colleagues in an interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary setting and an ability to liaise and work closely with industry, business and the professions to undertake high impact externally funded projects will also be key to your success in this role.
