The Opportunity

The Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering is seeking to appoint an outstanding Technical Officer to provide highly skilled technical and workshop/laboratory services to ensure the teaching and research needs of the department are met.

Your duties will be to:

• contribute to the design and manufacture of experimental apparatus and equipment with varied materials and technologies in support of teaching and research 
• support the conduct of major experiments, research trials and/or studies for the various research projects undertaken
• undertake tests, acquire/prepare data, undertake analysis of some complexity, maintain records and generate associated results and technical reports
• provide technical support, assistance and supervise students with their laboratory requirements
• contribute to and initiate continuous improvement activities
• provide, so far as is reasonably practicable, a healthy and safe laboratory workplace for staff and students, including regular safety inspections, reviewing work procedures, adhering to all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and guidelines and ensuring risk assessments are carried out according to correct procedures.
