The recently established ARC Research Hub for Integrated Devices for End-User Analysis at Low Levels (IDEAL) is a collaboration with the University of South Australia and six biotechnology industry partners. The ARC IDEAL Hub aims to create diagnostic and drug testing technologies that will make Australian biotechnology, diagnostics, veterinary, agribusiness and manufacturing firms globally competitive.

Working with our industry partners Biotics and Surgical Diagnostics on industry led projects, this ARC funded 5 year initiative aims to develop revolutionary biomedical technologies.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic researcher with experience in biomedical diagnostics, including development of biomedical diagnostic devices, to undertake high quality science research and provide solutions to real world problems and specific industry needs in the broad topic of biomedical diagnostics and tethered membrane biosensors.

You will have the opportunity to present at research seminars and conferences and to contribute to high quality publications (subject to industry partner approval).

This position will work closely with our industry partners and our partner university - University of South Australia.

About you
You have solid communication and interpersonal skills and are adept at working collaboratively. You have comprehensive knowledge of and demonstrated expertise in one or several of these areas: biotechnology, molecular biology, protein chemistry and cell culture, or biophysics.

You will also have:

  • Expert knowledge in protein chemistry, recombinant protein handling, immunoassays, enzymatic assays, lipid membrane biophysics and artificial lipid membranes
  • Previous experience in research in an area of relevance to immune diagnostics, recombinant protein purification, ELISA assays, Western Blotting, antibody fragmentation
  • A track record of peer reviewed publications
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development and research performance of a research group by providing guidance on experimental design and data processing
  • Doctoral qualifications in Biology or Medical Science or Biotechnology with relevant Postdoctoral research experience.

Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $77,396 to $ 94,263pa pro rata (Level A)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is part-time (0.4FTE) and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for two years.
