About the faculty

The Faculty of Science is the fifth largest in terms of student enrolments and the largest in terms of research revenue of the seven faculties at UTS. It is also the second largest in terms of total academic and support staff. The Faculty’s organisational structure comprises two Schools, two Research Institutes, nine Research Facilities, a Technical Services unit and general Faculty administrative services. 

About the role

The Faculty of Science is currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager to lead the development and maintenance of the Faculty’s business and industry relationships, and focus to develop and strengthen strategic relationships with industry and the wider community.

As Business Development Manager you will play a highly strategic and integral role in the Faculty’s external engagement profile. You will have active involvement with the development, promotion and support of the Faculty’s external profile and generating external investment in the Faculty, particularly through industry and ARC linkage research across the Faculty’s research foci.

Reporting in to the Associate Dean (International and External Engagement) Professor Graham Nicholson, you will also have responsibility for managing a small team of engagement professionals.

About you

In an ideal world, you will have a background in scientific business development, perhaps coming from industries such as biotechnology, chemical, pharmaceuticals or medical devices and will have a solid understanding of the regulatory affairs associated with these industries.

With a sound level of commercial nous you will be adept at making connections, identifying opportunities, and fostering collaborations between researchers and industry. Your highly developed business development skills including networking and negotiating commercial agreements will see you build, review, develop and implement the Faculty’s external engagement strategy in conjunction with the Associate Dean (I&EE).

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: A competitive salary will be negotiated depending on experience. (SSG1)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for three years
