About the Role

This role presents a fantastic opportunity for an individual with previous team management experience to provide high quality administration, strategic service and support of HDR admissions, scholarships and collaborative research degrees to ensure the growth of high quality research degree students and wide ranging scholarship schemes at UTS.  Responsible for managing a team of four you see will see yourself as the type of individual adept at process improvement.

About the School

The Graduate Research School is a centrally run academic unit, which is responsible for providing strategic leadership, innovation and excellence in research training across the University. The School is central to meeting to goals of the UTS Research Strategy and our aim is to produce the next generation of the research workforce to lead in industry, academia and professions and to become known as the destination for training for research careers in industry. The School works to achieve this collaboratively with faculties and other central units across UTS.

About the Team

The Research Growth and Capacity team provides high quality administration, strategic service and support of HDR admissions, scholarships and collaborative research degrees to ensure the growth of high quality research degree students and wide ranging scholarship schemes at UTS.

The strategic priority of the Research Growth and Capacity team is to contribute to the global demand for more researchers and in their performance and the knowledge that they produce to impact on real world problems; to increase the provision of externally engaged innovative research degrees, delivery and uptake of scholarship schemes and expanding capacity through collaboration.

 To be the successful in securing the role you will have:

  • high level research, analytical, and writing skills to enable the synthesis of relevant information and data, and provision of high quality written reports and correspondence.
  • demonstrated ability to review, develop and implement policies and procedures and actively drive the implementation of change in the workplace
  • demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and provide leadership and management to a team to achieve strategic outcomes
  • an understanding of the current Higher Education sector in Australia, particularly this issues related to research and research degrees
  •  knowledge and understanding of research degree scholarship and admissions processes, including issues related to international HDR students and industry doctoral scholarship schemes
  • experience in identifying and implementing process improvements in a Higher Education environment. 

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $93,574 to $106,571 pa (HEW8 )

This role attracts 17%superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

This appointment will be on a continuing full-time basis.
