The Institute for Sustainable Futures is recruiting for a highly talented and experienced researcher for a Research Principal role, to work on innovative research in the field of Learning and Social Change.

The Institute for Sustainable Futures  (ISF) at UTS undertakes game-changing sustainability research.  Established for more than 20 years, ISF works with thought leaders in government, industry and community organisations, in Australia and internationally, to create change towards sustainable futures.  Sustainability research is also a key pillar supporting UTS’s ambition to be a world-leading university of technology.  Beyond a vibrant new campus in Sydney’s creative precinct, at the heart of UTS are exceptional people.

This newly created role will provide you with an opportunity to contribute to transformative sustainability and social theory research and in part, help to create the next generation of sustainability leaders.

Reporting into Associate Professor Chris Reidy and also working with world leading academic Professor Ruth Crick you will contribute to the design and delivery of short courses government, corporate and community organisations. The Institute prides itself on providing a collegiate environment for all staff and this is a rare chance to affect change for the better, providing you with the opportunity to shape the future of Sustainability research at UTS.

 

To be successful in securing this role, you will have:

  • a PhD (or equivalent) in Social Science (such as Sociology/Social Theory) or a related field, or have demonstrated progress towards completion of a doctorate
  • experience in managing interdisciplinary research projects
  • experience in managing project teams, including planning and delegation of work, managing budgets, and supervision of staff and students (at Level B)
  • experience applying social theory to program design, monitoring and evaluation

Remuneration

Salary Range: $72,912 to $110,988 pa (Level A/B)

The university offers 17%superannuation. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

This appointment will be on a continuing, full-time basis.
