About the position

The Head of Student Health and Wellbeing will be a registered psychologist who is responsible for the leadership and delivery of counselling and psychological services across the student body, designing and conducting counselling programs from Pre K-12, and for providing external referrals to support the wellbeing and academic needs of students in the full range of domains.  In this context, the Head of Student Health and Wellbeing is the team leader who oversees provision of specialist advice to executive, teachers, parents and carers regarding students experiencing psychological, social or emotional distress.

Selection Criteria

You will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitment to:

  • Leading and delivering counselling services for students from Pre-K to Year 12
  • Leading the provision of health services, working collaboratively with the Senior Nurse to oversee the management of Junior and Senior Health Centres
  • Overseeing counselling and consultancy to individual students and/or their parents, providing appropriate feedback and follow up to parents, teachers and pastoral care staff, and assisting individuals and cohorts of students who are experiencing difficulties such as social anxiety, depression, communication problems, conflict resolution issues and working memory
  • Assisting teaching and other staff to identify and address student specific needs, social, emotional learning and/or behaviours
  • Working collaboratively as a member of the Pastoral Care Team and with the Learning Enrichment Department, parents and caregivers and other agencies to develop school-based support from parents
