Director of Graduate School

 

This position forms an integral part of the Institute’s research capacity building agenda and joins the Higher Education and Research Division leadership team in building and implementing the 2016-20 Batchelor Institute Research Plan.

The key purpose of this role is to develop and support PhD and Masters candidates across the Higher Degrees by Research programs of the Institute, and work cooperatively with research candidates and their supervisors to provide high level support and training. The successful applicant will be responsible for the direction and development of the new Graduate School, and will participate in the Institute’s research and academic governance and represent the Institute at relevant research networks and events.

The position requires an active researcher in a field relevant to the Institute’s strategic research directions with a sound knowledge and strong commitment to research ethics, research quality and research culture-building in an Indigenous research training context. The role requires an appreciation of Indigenous research paradigms and methodologies, experience in HDR candidate supervision and the ability to contribute to the development and delivery of a robust research program for Higher Degree candidates.
