The Social Policy Research Centre (SPRC) is a multidisciplinary Centre located within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at University of NSW. The SPRC receives its research funding primarily from Commonwealth and State governments, including the ARC, as well and community, industry and the corporate sector.

About the role

  • $70,381-$116,171 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation and plus leave loading 
  • Fixed Term for 3 years
  • Full-time 

This position will work within the Social Policy Research Centre (SPRC) on an Australian Research Council funded project in the area of Family Life Course Transitions, Gender, Time Use and Comparative Social Policy. The project will investigate how contemporary young adults and older people spend their time in socially and economically productive activities across ten countries with contrasting policy frameworks. The role will involve sub-studies on young people living in the parental home and on grandparental care, and how these relate to older parents' and young adults' social and economic participation.

About the successful applicant

To be successful in this role you will:

The successful candidate(s) will be able to exercise initiative in the research process, and have the ability to identify and research complex social issues drawing on relevant concepts and theories. If quantitative, they will be able to independently analyse large and complex data sets including time use data and rigorously apply appropriate methodologies to answer the research questions. The roles encompass the production of research papers, reports, undertaking background research and policy analysis, and organising events as well as producing high quality individual and collaborative research.
