The UNSW Optometry Clinic provides practical training to under-graduate and postgraduate students at the School of Optometry and Vision Science and offers comprehensive eye-care to UNSW staff, students and the surrounding community. This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced, qualified and motivated Optical Dispenser to be part of a teaching facility. You will coach Stage 4 and 5 Optometry students in optical dispensing to assist their patients to determine the best visual solution for their optical needs. 

About the role 

• Fixed Term for 12 months (35 hours per week) position with possibility for renewal. 
• Hours vary during semester and flexibility is required.

The Clinic Optical Dispenser will offer exemplary optical dispensing service including excellence in spectacle frame fitting, lens edging and fitting, spectacle repairs and ongoing care of patients returning for spectacle frame adjustment and be able to engage with the student body to enhance their clinical experience, hone their dispensing skills and develop a work ready graduate.

About you

To be successful in this role you will: 

• Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing or equivalent
• Five (5) years’ experience in optical dispensing preferable 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Commitment to excellence in patient care
• Experience in dispensing education preferable
• Proven sales record 
• Excellent retail product knowledge 
• Honest, reliable, motivated and people friendly
