Senior Research Coordinator 

What do we do?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) was established to provide a coordinated and integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the South East Qld Region. The IUIH is a lead agency working in partnership with key stakeholders to support the effective implementation of the Council of Australian Governments ‘Closing the Gap’ initiatives.

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Professional to overarch onsite research management of coordination and research projects relevant to our IUIH services and programs. As a Senior Research Coordinator, you will play an important role in development and implementation of ongoing projects. 

This role will be overseeing two (2) large evaluation projects. These projects will involve a participatory action research methodology working with a multidisciplinary team and community stakeholders. Both qualitative and quantitative methods will be utilised to investigate the process of implementation of the model and how this relates to client engagement, continuity of care, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander concepts of health and well-being.

About the role:

  • Advanced knowledge of research and statistical/qualitative methods including extensive experience in the use of computer packages to analyse data.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects - including data collection and analysis, co-ordination of meetings, ethics and governance approvals & reporting
  • Prepare reports and scientific manuscripts, including undertaking literature searches, maintaining reference libraries, creating tables and figures, drafting sections of manuscripts.
  • Liaise with researchers and co-researchers to communicate project progress, planning and upcoming events;
  • Provide direct supervision where required of research staff, within scope of supervisory skill and experience; identify appropriate pathways for internal or external supervision of research and other project staff as required
  • Support the coordination and delivery of in-service training aimed at enhancing research and evaluation skills of the workforce relating to specified projects, as relevant to their job roles, Project and career development

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
  • Criminal History Check
  • Post graduate qualification in Public Health or research or other relevant field
