Senior Lecturer - Information Systems

Who we are:
At Torrens University Australia, making a difference is in our DNA. As a Certified B Corporation, we belong to a global community of future-focused companies using business as a force for good. We believe in the transformative power of education to change lives, families, communities - and the world. That's why we're on a mission to increase access to higher education, so learners from all walks of life can chase their dreams.

A progressive university, we ground our studies in industry. Expert academics bring their insights into the classroom, with a range of assessment types that aim to be authentic and informed by industry needs. Bridging the gap between study and work, our educators prepare students for career success and connect them with future employers. Building relevant skills, experience and networks from day one, students don't just learn about their industry, they live it.

What's the job?
The Senior Lecturer (internally known as a Senior Learning Facilitator) is an academic role involving teaching (on-campus and online), scholarship and research including the potential to supervise MPhil and PhD candidates. Extra non-teaching responsibilities such as the management or leadership of subjects or courses may be allocated based on course needs and the incumbent's individual skills, expertise and development. Mentoring other lecturers is also part of the expectation of a Senior Lecturer at Torrens.

The role is responsible for designing, delivering and updating subjects related to Information Systems for bachelor's and/or master's degrees. This role works to ensure students are provided with the best opportunity to attain learning outcomes and satisfactorily complete their assessment tasks. It also participates in course review initiatives, including validation and moderation activities and appointees are required to be available to provide student support outside of timetabled class hours.

Industry relevance is critical to us, and as such we expect our Senior Lecturers to also be fostering connections with industry partners for collaborative projects, internships, and guest lectures or help bringing in guest speakers from industry to provide real-world perspectives.

The role is Full-time Permanent - based in our Surry Hills campus. Courses are delivered both online and face to face so there will be a mix of work from home and on campus. Ideally, we would like the successful candidate to start in May 2024, to begin teaching in June for our next term.
