We offer an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer, Virology & Viral Disease to join our world-leading institution at James Cook University (JCU). About the position
Joining a dynamic team of professionals, you will contribute to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching of Virology and viral disease across a broad range of courses including integrated Medical and Veterinary Curricula; Biomedical Sciences; Medical Laboratory Science; Pharmacy; Nursing; and Dentistry. You will also have unprecedented research opportunities in the discipline through collaborations between the various colleges within the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine; access to the nearby Townsville Hospital; and the Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine.
Key duties:
- Develop and deliver teaching and practical class materials for virology and animal and human infectious diseases to undergraduate and graduate students;
- Integrate virology with knowledge on disease pathophysiology, animal and human biology and animal production systems to teach infectious diseases of animals and humans
- Establish and grow an active research program in an aspect relevant to virology with a focus on ONE (One) Health issues in the tropics.
About you
As an enthusiastic, qualified academic you will have a PhD (or equivalent higher research degree) in a relevant area of science and will enjoy playing an active role in ensuring continuous quality improvement of curriculum, teaching resources and learning/ teaching approaches.
You will also have:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders;
- Demonstrated experience in leading / managing a multidisciplinary team, including the ability to support and mentor others
- Research experience and research publications in the field of virology and animal viral diseases or infectious diseases in international peer-reviewed journals
