Manager, Partnerships (Western Metropolitan) 

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Manager, Partnerships (Western Metropolitan) is responsible for developing and establishing an initial Deakin engagement plan for Melbourne’s west, and reporting on the University’s strategic partnerships in Melbourne’s west, with particular emphasis on strengthening engagement with government, employers, business, agencies and the community in Melbourne’s outer western metropolitan area. The incumbent will conceptualise, develop and roll out new initiatives and programs as projects. Achievement of the occupant will inform University’s future direction and strategy in relation to the engagement plans in Melbourne’s west.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Develop, scope and establish a Deakin engagement plan for Melbourne’s west that advances Deakin’s strategic position and role as a provider of higher education and research in western metropolitan Melbourne.
  • Provide program advice to senior University staff, develop and implement a sectoral employer, trade union, community and stakeholder partnerships strategy that positions Deakin as a provider of higher education and research in western metropolitan Melbourne.
  • Support the development and implementation of a community education strategy across western metropolitan Melbourne.
  • Manage the participation in, and organisation of, meetings of the Deakin and sectoral partners and alliances, related committees and working groups, and work with the stakeholders to ensure achievement of follow-up actions.

ABOUT YOU

  • A tertiary qualification in education, stakeholder relations, public relations, communications, marketing or a related field and extensive relevant experience or a relevant combination of qualifications and experience.
  • Highly-developed knowledge and understanding of the western metropolitan Melbourne area.
  • Highly-developed knowledge and understanding of the tertiary education sector and awareness of best practice in university partnerships.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Demonstrated capacity for establishing, building and sustaining effective partnerships.
