Overview

The School of Natural Sciences has a long track record of excellence in teaching and research in the areas of Biology, Environmental Science and Management and Chemistry. We offer a range of courses in Biology including Conservation and Wildlife Biology and have active research programs across conservation and wildlife management.

The School is seeking a Lecturer to contribute to the success of its course in Conservation and Wildlife Biology and to related areas of its Science course. The successful applicant will teach primarily at the undergraduate level, but would be expected to contribute to research activity in the School. In particular, the applicant will be expected to have a background and demonstrable ability to teach in areas of Conservation Biology, Wildlife Management, and Vertebrate Biology. The successful applicant will teach in the courses, undertake research, build and develop industry links and contribute to School activities.

A doctorate in Biological Science or relevant discipline is essential, together with demonstrated ability to teach at the undergraduate level. A successful research track record in Conservation and Wildlife Biology is essential as is the following experience:

  • A demonstrated ability to develop and deliver teaching material, including the preparation and delivery of units, unit coordination and marking.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in conservation biology or wildlife ecology, preferably with the ability to apply quantitative approaches to ecological studies.
  • Sound discipline knowledge of Australian fauna and the ability to undertake teaching and research on this topic.
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively across sectors or disciplines both within and outside the school

Benefits & Remuneration

This part-time, fixed-term position attracts remuneration of $92,287 to $109,594 (ALEVB) or $113,051 to $130,356 (ALEVC) payable on a 50% pro-rata basis plus 9.5% University superannuation contribution.
