SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (STRUCTURAL BIOLOGIST)

Salary: AUD$113,496 - AUD$130,866 p.a. (Level C) or AUD$136,658 - AUD$150,555 p.a. (Level D) plus 17% superannuation. (Level of appointment is subject to qualifications and experience).

The appointee with expertise in single particle cryo electron microscopy (cryo-EM) will lead an innovative and high impact research program in structural biology in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Bio21 Molecular Science and Biotechnology Institute contributing to the continued development of these disciplines and underpinning technologies at the University of Melbourne. The appointee will also have the opportunity to teach into undergraduate and graduate teaching programs, contribute to academic administration in the Department and more broadly in the University and promote the discipline of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the wider University and community activities.

The appointee will have the opportunity to collaborate in the multi-disciplinary research environment of the Bio21 Institute.  The Department has existing and developing strengths in molecular cell biology, membrane biology, protein misfolding and neurological diseases, host-pathogen interactions, molecular immunology, computational and systems biology and signalling.  Being located in Australia's largest and most prestigious biomedical precinct will also afford the appointee the prospect of many collaborations and access to world-class facilities at the University and the many adjacent research institutes.
