CSIRO Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computational Geochemistry
CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral Fellowships provide opportunities to scientists and engineers who have completed their doctorate and have less than three years of relevant postdoctoral work experience. These fellowships aim to develop the next generation of future leaders of the innovation system.
Population growth and technological progress are driving the global demand for mineral resources. Critical metals, such as Rare Earth Elements, are vital to rapidly developing modern transportation technologies, low-carbon energy, and environmental innovations. To discover new resources of critical minerals and improve mining and extraction technologies, we require a fundamental understanding of the geological, chemical and physical processes that form ore deposits.
This project will use a novel combination of computational geochemistry and data science approaches to address fundamental questions of critical metal solubility, transport and partitioning in mineral systems. The Postdoctoral Fellow will have the opportunity and freedom to develop this highly inter-disciplinary approach, develop applications for new critical metal geochemistry in exploration and mineral processing models, and engage with other researchers across CSIRO Mineral Resources Discovery and Processing program to build network inside CSIRO.
