CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral Fellowships provide opportunities to scientists and engineers who have completed their doctorate and have less than three years of relevant postdoctoral work experience. These fellowships aim to develop the next generation of future leaders of the innovation system.
In this position you will undertake research in Terahertz Metasurface Devices for Wireless Communications and Sensing.
As the successful candidate you will work with world-leading scientists and design novel millimetre and terahertz reconfigurable, electronically tuneable devices based on metasurface structures or metamaterials. You will develop signal processing methods and algorithms to operate and control the metasurface devices as well as apply the devices to wireless communication and sensing systems.
Your duties will include:
- Carry out innovative, impactful research of strategic importance to CSIRO that will, where possible, lead to novel and important scientific outcomes.
- Design novel millimetre and terahertz reconfigurable/tuneable devices-based on metasurface structures or metamaterials.
- Carry out modelling to predict the likely performance in application scenarios.
- Carry out experimental development with assistance from team members and characterise the new devices.
Location: Lindfield, NSW
Salary: AU$86k – AU$94k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:
- A doctorate (or will shortly satisfy the requirements of a PhD) in a relevant discipline area, such as Applied Physics, Solid-state Electronics, Microwave/Antenna Engineering, Communication Networks, and Signal Processing.
Please note: To be eligible for this role you must have no more than 3 years (or part time equivalent) of postdoctoral research experience.
- Demonstrated research experience i MMW/THz electronic devices, circuit design, and application systems.
- Demonstrated experience in electromagnetic/MMW/THz modelling/simulation, design and optimisation.
