CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral Fellowships provide opportunities to scientists and engineers who have completed their doctorate and have less than three years of relevant postdoctoral work experience. These fellowships aim to develop the next generation of future leaders of the innovation system.
The successful candidate will work within a broader research team on an industry focused project. The project team seeks to demonstrate a scalable process for thin-film perovskite photovoltaic (PV) cell and module fabrication, using patented CSIRO NexGen Solar® technology. This project will optimise a perovskite thin-film semiconductor single-junction cell that will ultimately form the top-cell junction in a tandem cell architecture.
In this position you will undertake research in experimental development to scale-up and optimise a process for perovskite thin-film solar cell deposition from test-cells to a prototype series connected mini-module. The chemical process combines the use of established industrial coating techniques including physical vapour deposition, atmospheric chemical vapour deposition, sputter deposition and atomic layer deposition. Highly desirable qualities of the successful candidate include the ability to think independently, develop fundamental reaction concepts, contribute to team objectives, a working knowledge of perovskite solar cells and their application to next generation advanced photovoltaic technologies such as perovskite-silicon tandem cells.
