Boarding is an important part of life at MGS. The boarding precinct centres on three renovated Victorian houses which provides modern, purpose-built student accommodation to 120 boys from Years 7 to 12; Creswick House for Years 7 and 8 and Perry and School Houses for boys in Years 9 to 12. The boarding community includes boys and their extended families, resident staff and families, nursing staff, an Activities Assistant, Wellness Coordinator, Afternoon Assistant, GAP Assistants and cleaning staff.
Reporting to the Headmaster (through the Deputy Headmaster and Head of Senior School), the Director of Boarding will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, management and administration of MGS's three boarding houses, with the welfare of boys the central focus. This position will ensure that the boarding houses provide a safe, caring and community-spirited environment for boys and staff alike. The Director of Boarding will provide advice and consultation in relation to the School's strategic and staffing planning for the boarding houses, taking into account current and future trends in boarding.
The successful candidate will be an inspirational leader, with recognised management skills and experience in leading a boarding community. The appointee will display excellent interpersonal and relationship management attributes with well-developed team building skills. Presenting with strong academic credentials and qualifications, the successful candidate will be committed to the welfare of boys in a boarding community.
This is a residential position and has a teaching load of 0.5FTE, which is regarded as a significant aspect of the role.
