Royal North Shore Hospital is seeking a suitably experienced Perioperative Nurse to join the team as a Part Time Clinical Nurse Educator 0.5FTE on a Permanent basis. Should the applicant require a full-time role, it may be possible to offer 0.5 CNE hours and 0.5 Clinical Perioperative hours.

Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) is a major teaching hospital located in the Northern Sydney Local Health District. RNSH provides elective and emergency health services to local residents and regional New South Wales, while being the state receiving center for burns and major spinal trauma.

RNSH Operating Theatres has 18 operating theatres and performs more than 12,000 operations per year. RNSH Operating Theatres are capable of providing the following elective, emergency, and trauma services:

  • Spines
  • Cardiac
  • Vascular
  • Endocrine
  • Oncology services
  • Plastic and reconstructive

RNSH Operating Theatres provides ongoing educational and professional development opportunities through CAP Program, structured in-servicing programs, and conference attendance.

What you'll be doing

The Clinical Nurse Educator will be guided by the Nurse Unit Manager and Clinical Nurse Consultant in leading, developing, co-ordinated and implementing all structured learning for nurses within (Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD).

The Clinical Nurse Educator will provide clinical teaching, orientation, skill accreditation and professional development support for all nursing staff and students.   

The Clinical Nurse Educator will have a role in the provision of hospital orientation and mandatory training. They will also be expected to teach in courses appropriate to nursing within and at facilities external to NSLHD.  

The Clinical Nurse Educator will participate in the development and teaching of the NSLHD Nursing Professional Development Program (this includes travelling to other sites within the LHD for lecturing and facilitation of workshops).

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
