Seeking a passionate Director who is eager to do something different with their career and be involved in an outstanding centre in FNQ

A Far North Queensland Rural community is looking for a new Director of Childcare. Though remote, the township is community-minded, and you have big opportunities to have a significant impact on early childhood education and care within the community. The education philosophy of the community is highly focused on individual student outcomes, and the small sizes make this a highly achievable and rare opportunity.

About the role:

As the Centre Director, you will provide strong leadership in the development and implementation of quality early childhood education services. Continuous provision of mentoring, on the job training and support to all educators with a specific focus on pedagogical excellence and compliance with the legislative requirements. You will be involved in operational, financial, people and general management of the Centre, using your skills and previous experience to maintain the cultural integrity of the Centre and its community. It is highly advantageous if you have worked in a similar rural or remote setting with experience in indigenous education

About you:

You are passionate about education and ensuring it is widely available, no matter where you are, so you are prepared to invest in the culture and community of the Centre. You have a deep understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, the land on which they reside, and their beliefs. You have at least 5 years of similar experience within small, rural communities and can form deep and meaningful connections with children and adults within the community.

Requirements:

  • At least five years' experience in the field of childcare and/or early child care education and a minimum of a Diploma in Children Services
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures
  • Computer literacy particularly in aspects of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs
  • Ability to manage people and budgets
  • Current Blue Card, First Aid and Resuscitation Certificate/s and Manual Driver's License
