The Governance Unit provides crucial governance oversight of the Organisation and Councillors. The unit comprises of Governance/Council Business, Executive Customer Support, Cemetery Management and Freedom of Information.

 

As the Governance Coordinator, you will play a key leadership role and provide high level governance advice consistent with relevant legislation and in line with ethical standards and probity expectations. You will develop and implement policies and procedures that support and enhance good governance and drive a culture of strong governance practices throughout the organisation.

 

This is an amazing opportunity for a leader who is passionate about all things Governance and has experience in high level coordination of Council business, meetings and Councillor briefings.

 

 What we are looking for

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in governance or related discipline
  • Extensive experience in a governance-related field in the public or private sectors
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, managing and developing staff
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to interpret legislation in particular the Local Government Act 2020
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement plans, policies and procedures 
  • Well-developed project management skills and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders
  • A sound understanding of Council meeting procedures and good governance practices
  • Politically astute with excellent analytical, investigative and research skills
  • Evidence of COVID vaccination

  • Salary range $111,727.85 to $124,871.11 plus super
  • Permanent role full time 38 hours per week plus RDO
