About University Services

University Services comprises of 1,500 professional staff focused on providing client centric and innovative services to the University. The group is providing transformational change, defining and influencing future service enhancements within the University of Melbourne.

About the role

The role leads the provision of high quality research grants support services (both pre and post award) that aim to increase the participation in international grant opportunities by academic staff from a broad range of disciplines.

The role leads a team of four staff and will plan and oversee workflow, task completion, relationship management (both external and internal) and provision of specialist advice on all aspects of international grants management, from oversight of applications processes and advice to applicants through to post award management and reporting.

To be successful in this role you will be passionate about continuous improvement and innovation with a proven record of influencing and engaging others with your leadership skills. Your strong customer centric focus will ensure you build strong working relationships.

About you

  • The appointee will have a tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and or equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in management and research grants administration, including coordinating complex work programs
  • Expert knowledge of international grant funding programs and funding rules, with specific knowledge in relation to US and other overseas funding schemes (e.g. European and UK).
  • Detailed understanding of financial compliance and budget requirements associated with international funding agencies, especially those from the US.
  • Expert knowledge of grants management across the research grants life-cycle (pre and post award), especially for grants from the United States.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a changing and fast paced environment
