Associate Director, HR Partnering 

About the opportunity

We are in an exciting period of tremendous and significant investment within out HR Partnering function as we continue to embark on a journey to provide strategic and operational management support and advice aligned to our workforce strategy in order to meet the ever-changing workforce management needs of the University.

We are seeking a passionate, consultative and experienced Associate Director, HR Partnering to lead and manage a group of HR Partners. Instilling a collaborative and client-centric culture, your role will be pivotal in driving consistency and excellence in the delivery of integrated, strategic HR solutions and HR Operational excellence. Your strong management experienced coupled with your keen interest in process improvement and enhancing the client experience is essential as we strive for a contemporary approach towards service excellence in the delivery of HR supporting services.

Operating as an expert in the HR Partnering lifecycle, you will provide clear leadership and guidance to your team, clients and colleagues alike. You will work with a high degree of autonomy and will be required to lead and guide people within a complex and multi-layered environment by providing strategic advice on organisational capability, workforce planning, recruitment and retention, talent and performance management, performance improvement, organisational change and restructures, conflict resolution, consultation processes, and a range of other employee relations issues.

  • has a proven ability to effectively develop and maintain relationships with senior executive staff members
  • has demonstrated delivery of operational excellence and experience developing fit for purpose HR solutions
  • has a collaborative approach to their activities, pro-actively engaging with Centres of Expertise and wider colleagues to deliver effective results for clients;
  • has proven leadership experience, ideally within HR Partnering
  • has proven experience in driving alignment, consistency and excellence in the delivery of integrated HR solutions and operational excellence
  • can demonstrate commitment to HR values and behaviours, providing leadership in the delivery of the workforce strategy and operational plan, embedding and facilitating the achievement of workforce goals and initiatives.
About us 

The Human Resources function provides human resource management related advice, support and services across the university. There are three parts to the HR operating model; HR Services; HR Centres of Expertise (COE) and HR Partnering. There are a number of HR Centres of Expertise designed to provide expert advice and strategic frameworks, tools and resources necessary to deliver on the goals and initiatives identified in the University Strategic Plan and the Workforce Plan.

The HR Partnering team provides business partnering, advisory services and deployment of specialist HR expertise to support University client groups and portfolios in delivering their objectives, and also facilitates the achievement of the Workforce Strategy and Operational Plan. The HR Partnering team is assigned client groups and/or portfolios of a size, complexity and /or facing transformational challenges commensurate with the responsibilities, experience and skills set out in cascaded position descriptions. They are accountable for the strategic deployment of expertise to deliver and support all HRM practices and services that will enable the objectives of allocated portfolios to be met, in alignment with the University's overall strategies. They are to collaborate with HR colleagues to ensure the delivery of integrated solutions and service excellence, and actively build capability in their team.

The Associate Director reports to the Director HR Partnering. The role provides leadership to the team of HR Partners to ensure the delivery of consistent talent management practices and facilitates excellence in HR service and solutions across the University.
