About the opportunity
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to undertake research and provide technical knowledge and expertise to the Chief Investigators to and multidisciplinary research team to support the Cooperative Research Centre Project (CRC-P) funded project on transforming plastic back into fuels, chemicals, and feedstock materials.
This includes actively contributing on a day-to-day basis to the group’s research operations and activities, including designing research protocols, undertaking core aspects of research work and contributing to analysis and key findings. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will collate and record research data, draw insights and analyses, and report information from the research undertaken. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will assist and participate in other research projects where value can be added. This will involve coordinating the preparation of high-quality journal and other papers, including responsibility for any lab work carried out by students, and providing teaching support (in terms of demonstrations in tutorials/practicals) and preparing equipment for experiments that are carried out.

- a PhD in Chemical Engineering
- experience working with industry directly or through sponsored research
- skills in working on multiple sponsored projects with multiple stakeholders and the ability to work collaboratively in a group environment
- a working knowledge and acute awareness of safety regulations and operating procedures within the laboratory environment with well-rounded experience in implementing safety procedures relevant to the laboratory
- experience in preparing grant applications
- demonstrated success in contributing to high-impact research and the capacity to conduct high quality research in terms of publications in internationally recognized peer-reviewed leading journals
- experience in modelling of physical and chemical phenomena, and proficiency in the use of modelling and engineering software, including Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, Matlab
- experience in laboratory, chemical and materials analysis techniques, possibly some gas analysis experience
- the ability to work autonomously with broad direction
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
